Do you feel as though you’re putting out content that just disappears into cyberspace? Or that you’re working so hard to keep up a presence on all the different communications channels that you hardly have time to think about what’s actually working? Maybe it’s time to step back and take another look at your strategy.

Idealware’s five-part course is designed for organizations that already understand the basics of online communications and are ready to delve deeper into strategic opportunities across multiple online and offline channels. Whether you’re seeking to increase your fundraising, play a larger role in advocacy efforts, or strengthen your brand, this course will help you develop a roadmap to a seamlessly integrated online communications experience.

Throughout the course, you will:
  • Review branding concepts and techniques.
  • Discuss how engaging content—especially storytelling—can help bridge multiple channels.
  • Confirm which channels make sense for your organization and review the resources you plan to devote to each.
  • Review metrics that can help gauge the success of the campaign.
  • Develop strategies for building and engaging with a community, including building email lists and gaining new social media followers.
  • Learn how to structure communications across channels.
  • Focus on campaigns, especially for fundraising and advocacy.
  • Outline a plan that you can put into action right away.

February 23: Confirming Your Goals, Branding, and Channel Mix
In this first session, we’ll consider the key questions you should be asking about your audience and goals, then look at how branding, storytelling, and your channel mix can enhance those goals and help you better reach your audience. In particular, we’ll spend time examining how different channels work together and will provide you with a decision-making structure to help you choose which channels focus on in your communications strategy.

March 1: Building an Engaged Community
An engaged community is a powerful marketing and communications tool. We’ll show you how to grow your list across multiple channels and create content that inspires your followers to take action. We’ll also review key metrics to measure your success and discuss how you can make adjustments along the way.

March 8: Planning Your Flow of Communications
To keep your audience paying attention, it’s important to provide interesting content at regular intervals. We’ll discuss how you can keep your stream of content flowing, models for balancing different approaches (such as curation, creation, promotion, and community building), and how to expand on your message without burdening yourself with constant outreach.

March 15: Planning Fundraising and Other Campaigns
This sessions dives into how to plan and execute a successful campaign. We’ll consider how to make the ask, the flow of the campaign across channels, managing other communications during your campaign, and how to source code and track the success of your multi-channel campaign.

March 22: Moving Forward and Making a Plan
In this final session, we’ll break down the different considerations that go into planning your communications and how to get started. We’ll start with various planning models, review the logistics of carrying out regular communications, and discuss the difference between authentic integration and going through the motions. At the end of this session, you’ll walk away with a map to boost your communications strategy, make the most of your various channels, and inspire your audience to take action.
