The scores are in!

Each year, KNN has the privilege of recognizing innovation and leadership among our Commonwealth’s nonprofit community.  Since innovation and leadership abound in our sector, this is no easy task for our volunteer committee.

This year’s nominations have been submitted and the scores are in!  I’m thrilled to announce our 2013 award winners:

  • Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program in Lexington, selected as recipient of the Innovative Nonprofit Award sponsored by the Kentucky Bar Foundation, was chosen for their farm program, which provides an agriculture-based healing environment to meet the needs of victims of intimate partner abuse as they strive to find healing and rebuild their lives as survivors.
  • Florence Tandy, executive director of Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission in Covington, was selected as the recipient of the Distinguished Nonprofit Leadership Award sponsored by Energy Insurance Agency and Travelers Insurance.  Florence was selected for her strategic leadership of NKCAC in a volatile funding environment and has over 25 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations.
  • Lindy Karns, board president of the Chrysalis House of Lexington, was selected as this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Board Leadership Award sponsored by Mountjoy Chilton Medley.  Lindy was selected for her leadership of the board of directors following the loss of a significant federal grant and for her long-term commitment to women in recovery.

Please plan to join me  to celebrate this organization and these leaders on October 23.  We have a great KY Nonprofit Leadership Forum planned.  Whether you plan to take advantage of our best agenda ever with 4 Pre-Forum Clinics and 20 sessions to choose from or join us for the awards luncheon only, it’s an event you don’t want to miss!
